I want to do a system restore. Multitude of feckin' reasons. However, when I try to use PC recovery (HP) it says it can't find the particition and can not create one. System restore will not work.
All this crap happened after windows did the automatic download of some major system "fix".
I need to know how to re-install windows xp. There was a way to turn on the computer and when the start up screen showed up you hit f-10? f-11? or something to get it to wipe out everything and set things back to the factory configuration.
Help. I'm tired, grumpy, and am 2 seconds from drop kicking this feckin' P.O.S. computer into the pool.

I just Reformatted AGAIN!!! Pop in windows xp cd,I think it's f8 or f12 you hit when you see the logo, then hit boot from cd,it should ask you if you want to install windows,Repair or exit..Pick install...it will ask you later if you want to delete a partition and format..

thankfully, we've backed up pretty much everything onto cd.
we'll lose some pics, and whatnot, but no biggie.
